The Phone Booth

The idea of the Phone Booth came from the 60's TV show "Get Smart". I was always impressed with the secret walls that opened into the special rooms of that show.  Twenty years ago, I built my first secret door, we call the "James Bond Bookcase" to get into the utility room of our home.  This bookcase is hinged and on wheels, with has a simple spring mechanism and electric switch that opens the bookcase into the utility room.  With the new addition, this room continues into the utility and storage area of the of the new addition.  I wanted to have a second "special opening" to get from the Pool Hall to this new area.  While we considered another bookcase door, Diane wanted something different.  After looking at pictures of old hotel phone booths, I had my vision.  It turned out to be part of the decor of the pool hall but with a twist.  This phone booth would be mechanized and open into the man cave.
