An Example of how light shift can alter the look of wood.

I think I shot a couple of pictures that show both Birefringence and
Metamerism.  I'm working on an awesome Steinway Art Case piano from 1904 with unbelievable inlay detail. I was trying to capture some detail pictures with my better camera and lighting umbrellas. I took one picture and then moved the umbrella a little and took another. The grain shift was very dramatic. I made a "gif" file of both pictures in one frame. Every 2 seconds the photos rotate from one to the other.

This piano has been one of the prettiest monsters I've ever restored. Many months ago, I started a restoration gallery on my web site of the project and it was immediately requested by the owner to take it down. For some unknown reason (to me), she wanted privacy and did not want any pictures of her piano on the internet. Personally, it was a drag, as I really wanted to show this job off on my web site. I still might make a photo gallery for groop and make it a private gallery that you can only find it with the address or link.

Here is the on picture I call
"Birefringence-Metamerism".
